WordPress Theme Shop Directory 2016 - Theme Market Analyzed

Not surprised to see a few of these with declines in popularity. Probably not too accurate, but as trends go, might be accurate enough.

Regarding Alexa ranking- as far as my understanding goes, Alexa adding more websites into their radar regular basis. That fluctuate the rank negatively for most websites since they are only getting a small portion of the total growth of traffics. Unless a site gaining more traffic aggressively, with just having similar amount of traffics- sites are losing the rank placement (most likely due to how the ranking algorithm works).

My guess the top ranked sites (< 10k) are less effected. The rest are loosing ranks proportionally (the lower the rank, higher the rank getting reduced)- there are more competition to the similar position now ever than before.

Note: I ran a site which ranked < 2k on Alexa during 2012-2013, before shutting down in mid 2013. Only recently I've spend some time again to understand current situation. It's totally my guess- I could be wrong. :)

Hey Omaar,

You are right, Alexa rank isn't relevant, that's why we have focused on the ranking of those sites and how they relate to each other, thing that we saw based on some data that we have to be relevant :) .

Yep- enjoyed the list for their respective positions and how they goes up or down. Nice work done. :)

I'd be more interested to see a comparative analysis of the sales these companies are making, though I realize that information is not public. Getting traffic isn't necessarily equivalent to getting money, and I'd guess a lot of the traffic to WooThemes is on account of WooCommerce and not the themes.

That's a fair assumption. A sales analysis would be interesting to see.
