Since Designmodo completely block traffic in an aggressive manner (adblocking), I shall stop recommending Designmodo blog as a place for any reference.

Hey sorry Benjamin. I don't use an adblocker so I didn't realize they had anything blocking traffic like that. Thanks for the heads up.

No worries. I don't mind if sites "ask" if users could turn off an adblocker in a respectful manner. (Many times I would turn it off just due to someone asking nicely.) It's just a little pet peeve of mine when site owners get a little aggressive about ad blockers / custom browser setups).

I'm surprised (but maybe shouldn't be) that these are "underutilized" tricks, since they are the obvious ones recommended in every single performance article I've read for the past two or three years (if not longer). I suppose it's an unwillingness of people to do the obvious things because they want an easier solution.
