I agree with this. I once bought a theme for a website when I was just starting out on WordPress. Not only was the theme poorly coded but the support was horrible and they had a ton of bugs. It sometimes took 10 days to get a single reply that wasn't even a solution to the problem. I eventually gave up and removed the theme without a refund. Worst experience ever! Thankfully I get better support from the companies I love like astra.com, mythemeshop.com and elegantthemes.com.
