Guess I'm behind the curve, because my client work has been picking up.

Ya I really think it depends on the niche, client base, etc... I am seeing the same increase as well and during the middle of the summer even :) Guess we can't complain haha.

My work has been rock steady, this month was especially busy. I think a lot of the generalist shops ("We sell WordPress websites!") are slowing down, and the shops that relied on the "small fish" work from those shops are slower as a result. All the agencies that I know here in town and out of town, that are not part of the hardcore WP bubble, but use WP for all their builds, are doing better than ever. I think it depends on who you talk to, I guess.

This might also explain a lot of the community activity we saw in the last 12 months as well.

There are many people who are willing to draw in however many clients as could reasonably be expected. What's more, that occasionally implies consenting to work with individuals who are, to understate the obvious, testing.
