WP Engine vs. GoDaddy - A Site Speed Test

wpsmackdown.com | Nov. 9, 2014 | 4 min read

I wanted to see how GoDaddy's WordPress Hosting performance compared to the existing, bigger-name players already in the managed WordPress hosting space. So I tested it against WP Engine, one of the more established names in the managed WordPress hosting space. Let’s see how GoDaddy’s hosting compares to WP Engine. Two pages were compared: homepage & a single article.

I never recommend GoDaddy for WordPress hosting. It is really bad for web hosting.

I'd love to hear *why* you don't recommend them. Have you run tests? Had bad experiences? Simply stating that they are bad isn't very helpful for those trying to make informed decisions.

Yes. I have bad experience with them. I think it is in 2012. I bought hosting from Godaddy. My website loads really slow (10-15 seconds). Then I contacted the support team. They always said there is no issue. Then I moved to Hostgator. Then, there is no issue about loading time.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad you are with a host that you trust and your website performing much better now.

I have had a much different experience with GoDaddy. Their new WordPress hosting is running well for me so far, and their support team is hands down the best I've ever worked with.
