What The Heck Are WordPress Frameworks?

wpkube.com | Jan. 5, 2015 | 9 min read

In simple terms, frameworks simplify theme development through the pre-loaded codes WordPress understands. They kick-start the development process, making it better and faster. It extends the power of the Theme Developer through child themes.

This is an issue that has been plaguing the WordPress community for a long time. The, "What's the difference between Themes and Theme Frameworks" issue. I think the main culprits in propagating the issue have been theme developers who for so long have disregarded development best practices in favor of including too much functionality in their themes. This trend drastically blurred the lines between themes and theme frameworks for many. Thankfully articles like this one are (I hope) finally saturating the general WordPress community enough to clear the air and educate people on their options (and the best practices associated with those options).
