OceanWP + Freemius = Perfect Match!

OceanWP - one of the most popular themes on the WordPress.org repository with over 300k active installs - is transitioning their selling platform to Freemius!

OceanWP + Freemius = Perfect Match!

Community | oceanwp.org | May. 21, 2019

Below are some important points to help you understand why we made this decision and what upcoming changes there will be to OceanWP’s platform. Many of our users have been reporting issues with license key activation. Obviously, this is a very important part of OceanWP’s premium extensions, as the license key allows you to get updates directly from our platform to your websites. With Freemius, license key activations will work smoothly and the process will be easier than it was before.
The main change here is that the Agency plan will offer you the possibility to activate licenses on up to 25 websites instead of an unlimited number of websites. Don’t worry, if you bought the Unlimited plan before the switch, your license will be grandfathered-in and your activation limit will not change. Why are we getting rid of the Unlimited plan? We’ve discovered that the vast majority of users who bought the plan were not using it for more than 20 websites.
Furthermore, having an unlimited license increases our support load and responsibility disproportionately to the value of OceanWP’s products and the customer support required for larger companies. So, as a young

How to Reset a WordPress Website

Community | oceanwp.org | Jul. 3, 2019

At times, you may need to reset all the data in your WordPress website and start with a new installation. This gives you a fresh start and you can begin building the website again from scratch. What Does Resetting a WordPress Website Mean?
When you reset a WordPress website, it deletes all the data that is currently present on the website and sets it back as though it is a new installation.
Before resetting the website, you need to understand what are the data that makes up WordPress. This will bring more clarity on what happens under the hood in order for the reset to go smoothly and as intended.
First, WordPress contains data in the database. All the posts, pages, comments, their corresponding details, different settings, etc. of the website are stored in the database of the website. Resetting the WordPress website essentially means wiping out of all of the data in the database, since it will wipe out all the settings that you have in the website and you will only have the default settings in there.
The other data that your WordPress website will is the theme, plugins, and media files. These can be found in the wp-uploads folder. The theme files are stored in the ‘themes’

The basics of creating lead magnets for email list building, complete with plenty of real-life examples for inspiration.

How to Generate More Email Subscriptions With the Same Traffic Volume (A Beginner’s Guide to Lead Magnets)

Community | oceanwp.org | Jun. 28, 2018

You might be tired of hearing people tell you that you “need to build an email list”. But you see this advice so much for a reason. For any business, email marketing is one of the top-performing channels, with an impressive median ROI of 122%. Basically – it’s hard to ignore! But despite email marketing’s effectiveness, a lot of businesses struggle to actually build their list in the first place. In fact, most websites using a generic email opt-in form convert less than 2% of visitors. Yikes! For a business owner, that’s a lot of cash left on the table.
So, how do you get more opt-ins from the traffic you’re already receiving?
One proven method is lead magnets.
West Elm store sends a 15% discount coupon code to your email after you subscribe
A lead magnet is something valuable you offer to website visitors in exchange for their email addresses. Like a discount or free shipping provided by ecommerce stores after a sign-up. But lead magnets go beyond just “bribing” your visitors with discounts. You can also share special content, like a video, PDF, or even an Excel sheet.
For example, look at how SEO expert Matt Diggity uses his Backlink

What’s New in OceanWP: Scripts & Styles Panel and Woo Elements Positioning

Community | oceanwp.org | Apr. 23, 2017

In this new version of OceanWP and Ocean Extra, you’ll be able to activate or deactivate almost all the theme’s scripts and styles, this way if you do not use certain features, you will be able to remove the JavaScript or CSS associated to improve the loading speed of your site. How It Works
By default, you have a CSS and JS file that group all the theme functionality, so if you do not use or need some features, for example the Full Screen header style, you will still have its CSS or JS associated. it is not ideal.
You will no longer have this issue, just go to your WordPress dashboard, click on Theme Panel > Scripts & Styles and disable all CSS and JS you will not need.
When disabling a script, a CSS and JS file will be automatically created in the uploads folder of your site and displayed in front end instead of the default files.
WooCommerce Elements Positioning
In this version, you’ll also be able to re-organize or hide all the elements of your WooCommerce products in the catalog.
I also activated this feature for the summary of your single products, I did not do it for all elements (image + summary, tabs, up-sell products, related products) because I do

This is the first major update to OceanWP since the theme was launched. Many things have been improved and added to this version to make it even more flexible and user friendly. Many extensions have also been updated, all the big new features of the theme and plugins are explained in this post. New Menu Icons Selection
A new icon selection system for your menus has been set up that shows you all available icons as well as several options such as hiding text to display only the icon, control size, position (before/after/below) and alignment.
This new system is not my creation but comes from the Menu Icons plugin.
Why did I directly integrate this plugin into Ocean Extra?
Because I wanted this new icons selection system to be fully compatible with OceanWP, I also added and would add new features in the future.
Read this article in the documentation to learn more.

Community | oceanwp.org | Apr. 16, 2017

After several days of work, I am pleased to present you this new update of OceanWP focused on the responsive. Now you’ll be able to control several elements for tablet and mobile devices like font size, padding, columns, and so on. How It Works
When you see the responsive buttons next to the title of an option in the customizer, this means that you can change the values for this option for tablet and mobile devices.
Just click on the “Desktop” icon, two more icons will appear, clicking on one of them, your site will simulate this device and you will be able to add a custom value for it.
Show/Hide Some Elements
A new “Visibility” field has been added in the Top Bar, Page Header, Footer Widgets, and Footer Bottom sections to allow you to show or hide its elements on tablet and mobile.
Footer Widgets Columns
By default, on the tablet and mobile screens there is only one column for footer widgets, since this update you can easily choose to display your widgets between 1 and 4 columns as the GIF above.
New Header Style
A new header style has been added “Medium” with several options to allow you to customize this header style according your needs,
